Best Female Spa & Wellness Centre in Rishikesh, India

Rishikesh is not just a yoga destination. It is a region of healing that goes through the mountains, the Ganges and the ancient traditions that have evolved here over thousands of years. When it comes to healing the body and calming the mind, there’s no better healing system than ayurveda.

Himalayan Yoga Association provides one of the most authentic experiences of Ayurvedic spa at Rishikesh. Our treatments aren’t trending wellness packages. These are based on the traditional Indian practices of healing and have been handed down from generation to generation. Come for a yoga retreat or a personal healing experience – our spa will help you rejuvenate!

What Makes Ayurveda Different From Regular Spa Treatments?

Most people have heard about a relaxing spa that provides massages and skin care. But with Ayurveda, it’s so much more. It is a 5000 year old Indian system of medicine and healing. The Sanskrit term “Ayurveda” contains the word Ayur, which means life and Veda, which means knowledge. So, it literally translates to the knowledge of life.

In Ayurvedic treatments, treatment focuses on the balance or imbalance at the root and at the source. They don’t merely treat symptoms in a superficial manner. Instead, their focus is on balancing the three doshas – Vata, Pitta and Kapha. The three energies which control the operation of your body and mind.

All treatments at our Rishikesh spa start with a consultation. It involves knowing your body type first. Then, we suggest therapies that are the right fit for you. It is this personalized approach that makes Ayurveda so strong and effective.

Our Ayurvedic Spa at Himalayan Yoga Association

Our spa has been specially created to be a real sanctuary. Our centre is situated in the serene and peaceful ambiance of Rishikesh situated near the Ganges river. The flow of water and the cool mountain air provide heavens to deep healing.

Our therapists are skilled in the traditional ayurvedic methods. They’re not doing massages, they know the science of each one of their moves and each herb. Each spa experience is on purpose, each session is also healing from start to finish.

Only natural and herbal oils and ingredients are used in our treatments. No harsh chemicals. No artificial fragrances. Pure and natural healing as Ayurveda designed.

Ayurvedic Treatments We Offer

Abhyanga — The Full Body Oil Massage

Abhyanga is one of the most popular Ayurvedic healing procedures. In this treatment, the body is massaged with warm herbal oil with long loose strokes all over. The oil penetrates deep into the skin and tissues. It clears the nervous system, allows to increase the flow of blood into the muscles and further relaxes the nervous system.

Upon completion of this first Abhyanga session, many of our guests report sleeping better for months. It also helps in eliminating the toxins from the body (Detoxification) as per the Ayurveda.

According to the dosha type, herbal oil will be customized for each guest. Therefore, your Abhyanga session will be personalized for your body.

Shirodhara — Oil Flow on the Forehead

Shirodhara is one of the most soothing treatments in Ayurvedic medicine. In this therapy, warm medicated oil is slowly trickled on the forehead in a constant stream. This is a very calming experience.

It specifically attacks the mind and nervous system. Stress, anxiety, insomnia and mental fatigue are common issues. All these problems are excellently treated by the remedies of shirodhara. As the oil flows, the “third eye” situation is activated and a deep relaxation level is synthesized.

After a Shirodhara session, most guests feel as though they have had a deep meditation. It is as effective. One of our most sought after treatments in the spa.

Swedana — Herbal Steam Therapy

Swedana is a herbal medicated steam therapy. Herbal steam is applied to the body. This opens up the pores, flushes out toxins sweating out and loosens up tight muscles and joints.

Swedana is often used along with other Ayurvedic treatments to achieve better results. For example, we often follow an Abhyanga session with Swedana. This makes the healing oils in the formula soak into the body even better. It’s also highly effective for people experiencing joint pain, stiffness in the back or poor circulation.

Kati Basti — Lower Back Pain Relief

Many people come to us with chronic lower back pain. This is meant for Kati Basti treatment in Ayurveda. A ring of dough is used to hold warm medicated oil on the lower back area. The oil penetrates the muscles and backbone, giving deep relief.

This therapy is also very gentle and effective. This is effective against pain, stiffness and inflammation of the lower back muscles and nerves. Besides, it’s totally risk-free and free of drugs. After a few sessions, many of our guests have experienced relief from back pain for good!

Nasya — Nasal Therapy

The Ayurvedic treatment is administered via the nose; it is called Nasya. This seems a bit unusual but in Ayurveda the nose is referred to as the gateway of the brain. Nasya is very useful for headaches, sinus problems, concentration and stress (relaxation).

It is also beneficial for the health of the hair and the scalp. In addition, frequent tension headaches or Migraine headaches may help from regular Nasya therapy.

Padabhyanga — Foot Massage

In Ayurveda, the foot is an extremely significant part of the body. There are a number of nerve endings that run from the feet to the important organs. Padabhyanga is a traditional foot massage of Ayurveda where a padarak is made by mixing warm herbal oil. It helps sleep, soothes the mind and is very grounding.

After any long walk, a yoga session and a sight-seeing trip in Rishikesh, one can feel blissful after an indulgent Padabhyanga session.

This helps them to comprehend your dosha type and the dosha imbalances existing in you. From that, they will make the best treatment suggestion for you.

You will be shown to a quiet treatment room before and during the session. Space is clean, warm and quiet. Soothing lights and scents promote a calm and restful atmosphere. No special items are required — we will have everything for you.

In the process of treatment, you should only relax and breathe. The therapist will guide you on a journey in the session. The treatment time varies from 45 min to 90 min depending on the treatment you choose.

Rest for a bit after the session before going back outside. Limit weighty foods and drink warm water. This will help the body to absorb the treatment’s benefits. Many guests have reported that they feel calm for hours, and in some cases for days, after only one session.
