THE ORIGIN OF YIN YOGA
Yin Yoga is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine and Taoist Yin and Yang philosophy. These two forces represent opposite but complementary aspects of life: Yin is considered as passive, still, age of nights while Yang is active, vigorous, day oriented. Vinyasa and Ashtanga are fast moving forms of Yoga, or what is termed as the Yang forms while Yin Yoga is a style that seeks to capture the slow, passive or slow forms of Yoga, or the Yin.
Yin Yoga is practice on the connective tissue of the body especially the fascia, tendons and ligaments with the holding of the asana for 3-5 minutes or more making it possible to address the body and even emotional issues. This is a low impact, slow moving exercise that enables the person to get to a relaxed state that is perfect for reflection and mending of the soul.
In traditional Chinese medicine the body is divided into channels, which are associated with particular organs or feelings. Yin Yoga unlocks and powers up these channels and then regulates the Qi (energy) flowing in the body. So, Yin Yoga can be considered as an unique solution for people in the modern world where the bustle prevails as the king.
