Yin Yoga is a unique style of yoga that targets the connective tissues of the human body such as the ligaments, fascia and tendons and the asanas are held for a long time. It is different from the other active yoga styles because in this style the relaxation part is given more importance. Of them, Yin Yoga is to assist in the restoration of the primary energy current and to embrace both movement and stillness.
Stress is now a familiar problem of the modern person: it can be on job stress, traffic stress or even stress due to exercise stress. Yin Yoga assists in letting go of the accumulated tension in the body and particularly in the areas where most of us store tension: HIP, CHEST, LOWER BACK AND LEGS. Yin Yoga can improve flexibility and will assist athletes and fitness lovers to avoid injuries that may be of benefit to them.
While other forms of yoga are more active and assist in building muscles, Yin Yoga focuses on fasciae – the tissues, such as ligaments and tendons. Some of the items that a practitioner uses in order to massage the deeper layers of the tissue safely are blocks, blankets, and bolsters. The course, connected to Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and yoga, will provide the knowledge for individual practice or teaching of Yin Yoga.
Bali Yoga School Offers
THE ORIGIN OF YIN YOGA
Yin Yoga is based on Traditional Chinese Medicine and Taoist Yin and Yang philosophy. These two forces represent opposite but complementary aspects of life: Yin is considered as passive, still, age of nights while Yang is active, vigorous, day oriented. Vinyasa and Ashtanga are fast moving forms of Yoga, or what is termed as the Yang forms while Yin Yoga is a style that seeks to capture the slow, passive or slow forms of Yoga, or the Yin.
Yin Yoga is practice on the connective tissue of the body especially the fascia, tendons and ligaments with the holding of the asana for 3-5 minutes or more making it possible to address the body and even emotional issues. This is a low impact, slow moving exercise that enables the person to get to a relaxed state that is perfect for reflection and mending of the soul.
In traditional Chinese medicine the body is divided into channels, which are associated with particular organs or feelings. Yin Yoga unlocks and powers up these channels and then regulates the Qi (energy) flowing in the body. So, Yin Yoga can be considered as an unique solution for people in the modern world where the bustle prevails as the king.
